Hershey's Chocolate World
We left Friday after John got off work, with plans for a short detour (15 minutes added to our route), so we could go to Cracker Barrel for dinner. Mapquest said it would only be 15 minutes more driving time, but they were wrong. I'm not quite sure where things went wrong, but it added at least half an hour and instead of being on the interstate, we spent a lot of time on local Route whatever. Add to that Sam's crying, and it made a for little bit longer drive than we planned - but we made to our hotel.
After some tasty cinnamon rolls from the hotel breakfast, we called my mom (who was staying with my brother), so we could make our plan for the day. BEnjamin was just coming home from the hospital that day, so we decided to spend the morning at Hershey's Chocolate World!!!
Now, yes it is like going to visit a giant commercial - but it is a tasty commercial! They have Hershey's products that you cannot find anywhere else. My favorite was the Special Dark Hershey Bar with Raspberry and Macadamia Nuts - I have never had a tastier Hershey bar!
James was able to package his very own container of Hershey kisses and got a Factory Worker Badge. Then we went on the Factory tour ride - which was lots of fun, made us want to eat the chocolate, and left me singing - "It's the milk chocolate - oo oo oo." We tried special dark mochas, milkshakes and sundaes! John actually had enough chocolate that he didn't want any after we left with bags full of chocolate. I personally don't think you can OD on chocolate, but John thinks we made a valiant effort.
We had lots of fun, lots of chocolate, and James still talks about it a week later. We did manage to eat all but 2 bags of Hershey's kisses a week later,so we may have to go back before summer is over and go to Hershey Park, go on some rides and get some more of those Raspberry and Macadamia Special Dark Bars.
We spent the rest of the time visiting with family and got to meet little Benjamin - he is sooo cute. Being able to visit him makes visiting Hershey even sweeter. I look forward to going back!
